# Arm Triangle Anaconda: Complete BJJ Technique Guide

## What is the Arm Triangle Anaconda?

The Arm Triangle Anaconda is a fundamental Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu technique that every practitioner should master. Whether you're a white belt just starting out or an experienced grappler refining your game, understanding the mechanics and timing of this technique will elevate your BJJ.

## How to Perform the Arm Triangle Anaconda

Here's a detailed breakdown based on expert instruction:

# Arm Triangle / Anaconda Choke

All right, guys, let's talk a bit about the arm triangle choke or anaconda choke.

Depends where you are, some people call it as well anaconda choke, okay? It is

basically I'm using my arms as a triangle shape, and I'm squeezing his shoulder

against his neck as well. And my arm is on the other side of the neck, and I'm

cutting the blood circulation with the pressure of my arms, right? So let's

understand this. So basically, let's start from the front head lock here. So I have

my right arm in front of his shoulder, and I have my left hand under his arm.

This is the front head lock. Let's imagine I was able to close his arm here very

deep. And my choking hand, which is my right hand that is in front of his

shoulder, I'm going to deep this arm very deep on the other side. And then I'm

going to hold my biceps and I will hold his ribs with my other hand.

So I can I have exactly the triangle with the arms, right? How are I going to

choke him? I'm going to slide my my face, I'm going to move my face underneath

this gap here. Make sure you deep the face there so he doesn't roll above your

face. Okay? Now I have the choke here. What he can do to actually try to minimize

the pressure. He can maybe open his elbow. So I can use my leg to close his arm

and then I start squeezing from here. Okay? So I close his arm and I start

squeezing from here. Alright?

So let's do one more time. So I have him in the front head lock. This is the

front head lock. I close his arm as much as I can. so it's very narrow this space

and then I deep my right arm all the way to the other side

and then I hold my biceps and then the other hand go behind his back I will move

my face underneath and I will roll him okay

now Now here I can already start choking him. But if he opened the elbow, I can

also use my hand, my leg, to close it. And then I can choke him,

okay?

Understanding the difference between the arm triangle or the anaconda to the dark

stroke is very important. Remember the arm triangle, I'm choking with the hand that

is actually above his shoulder. So I'm choking with this hand that is in front of

his shoulder. Okay.

Very soon we're going to talk about the dars. The dars is actually the opposite. I

will choke with the hand that is actually underneath his armpit.

Okay. A lot of people get confused about these two.
